The AN/PEQ-1 SOFLAM (Special Operations Forces Laser Acquisition Marker) is a laser designated tool used by Special Operations teams. SOFLAM enables a spotter on the ground to precisely direct bombers, strike fighters, attack helicopters or artillery with an infrared laser. It is featured in Medal of Honor (2010) and Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

Mechanism Edit

Despite the Medal of Honor's version of SOFLAM indicated that the device fired a beam of green laser, in reality, the laser from SOFLAM is not visible to naked eyes. Instead, series of coded laser beams are fired from the device into the designated target. These beams ricochetted or bounced from the target into the sky, where the receiver (Aircraft) picked up the beam using special Targeting Pod mounted on the plane, the Pod will decode the beam an pinpoint the target for the pilot to send ordnance.

The SOFLAM would usually be controled by Joint Terminal Air Controllers or Forward Air Controllers. Despite the controversy of everyone who carries a SOFLAM in Medal of Honor can use the device.

Medal of Honor (2010)Edit

The SOFLAM is featured in both the campaign and multiplayer mode.. The SOFLAM is most prominent in marking targets for destruction. The heaviest use of the SOFLAM is during the mission Breaking Bagram, where Rabbit must use the SOFLAM to designate enemy armor and light personnel.

The SOFLAM is also used in other missions for other targets such as enemy emplacements, and vehicles.

The SOFLAM is used in multiplayer to call in Support Actions and marking locations for them. Players can put away the SOFLAM if they choose not to use it.

Medal of Honor: WarfighterEdit

The SOFLAM returns in Medal of Honor: Warfighter. It is featured in both the campaign and multiplayer modes.

CampaignEdit

The SOFLAM, called the LTLM can first be seen used by Stump during Shore Leave. It is used to call in a close air-support airstrike on a nearby sniper nest.

The SOFLAM is used in Changing Tides and Rip Current, used to destroy a building housing several snipers, and to call in a Blackhawk with Stump as the gunner, in their respective placements.

MultiplayerEdit

The SOFLAM is used to call in most Support Actions.
