Heer Infantry are the standard German soldiers encountered during the Medal of Honor series, they appear in all WW2 games except Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault where the focus is on the Japanese Army, Medal of Honor (2010), and Medal of Honor: Warfighter which are set in the modern day.

Medal of Honor and Underground[]

Wehrmacht Light[]

General description[]

Heer, or Wehrmacht, enemies are the standard German infantry for the first few missions of the game. The accuracy and detail of their appearance leave a lot to be desired. Their uniforms are a strange dark tan color with a speckled camouflage pattern, more similar to Waffen-SS Erbsenmuster uniforms rather than standard feldgrau wool uniforms of the German Heer. In levels 3 and 4 of Destroy the Mighty Railgun Greta (Mission 2), Wehrmacht enemies retain the tan tunics but wear dark grey trousers. Their first iteration wear brown boots (possibly meant to be low-boots with gemachen) but their second iteration wear black jackboots. Their collars bear no litzen, and they carry no equipment on their backs. They use either the Kar98 or MP40 and often appear alongside the Gestapo.

Whermacht Light Infantry in Medal of Honor: Underground appear in the missions A Vicious Cycle and Roundabout.

Weapons[]

Wehrmacht Officers[]

General description[]

Despite the game labelling them "Wehrmacht Officers", these enemies appear alongside Waffen-SS infantry more than Wehrmacht infantry. They are depicted wearing M36 mantel overcoats with a strange dark brown color as opposed to the more accurate feldgrau color. In Medal of Honor they always wear helmets, in Underground they wear Officer Caps but will still often choose helmets. They are featured the most in Level 1 of Mission 5: Sabotage the Rjukan Hydro Plant likely meant to depict standard Wehrmacht infantry in winter conditions.

Weapons[]

Gasmask Troopers[]

General description[]

"Gasmask Troopers" appear only in Level 3 of Attack Impenetrable Fort Schmerzen (Mission 4). Their wear gas masks to protect themselves from the mustard gas produced within the fort. Their masks resemble the WWI-era M15 model rather than the more accurate M38's (perhaps this was an intentional nod to the use of mustard gas in WWI). They appear to wear Wehrmacht Splittertarnmuster parkas and trousers (possibly to appear as some kind of chemical suit). This is the only indicator that they are Wehrmacht instead of Waffen-SS, despite Fort Schmerzen being guarded primarily by Waffen-SS enemies. They only appear in Mustard Gas Production, alongside Waffen SS soldiers. uniquely Gas Mask Troops appropriately have muffled voice lines and can be heard coughing and spluttering when killed or hurt, they will die instantly if their Gas Masks are shot off.

Weapons[]

Arctic Troopers[]

General description[]

Wearing Winter parkas (The same worn by the Gasmask Troopers in white) and hoods with Goggles. Artic Troopers can be found defending the Rjukan Hydro Plant in Norway and as Guards in Austria where secret treasure has been hidden by the Nazis. They are some of the first enemies to use the deadly Panzerschreck Rocket Launcher.

Weapons[]

Mountain Trooper[]

General description[]

Not to be counfused with the Mountaineers in Mittlewerk Sabotuer, the Mountain Troopers are Whermacht Troops with Tropical uniforms, they can be seen wearing either Light Tan or Green Field Caps, with Officers weraring brimmed grey hats. They are encountered in the mission Undercover in Crete.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault[]

General description[]

In the next Medal of Honor game, Allied Assault, the German main infantry are seen in all levels of the game. They use a vast array of weaponry, from the Kar98k to the MG42, from the Gewehr 43 to the MP40. They take on many appearances. As seen below.

Weapons[]

Appearances[]

The German Heer Infantry come in a variety of shapes and sizes, as shown below.

Medal of Honor: Frontline[]

General description[]

Like in Medal of Honor and Underground, these soldiers are the standard German infantry for most of the game, but in later levels are replaced by more elite Waffen-SS units.

Weapons[]

Medal of Honor: Infiltrator[]

Heer infantry appear in many levels of the game. They appear on the missions of "Pulling Teeth", "Mousetrap" and "Trail of the Beast". Even at later levels there are more of them than SS soldiers. Heer have twice as less HP than SS soldiers.

Medal of Honor: European Assault[]

European Heer Infantry[]

General description[]

These soldiers are the standard soldier found in the first theatre of the game, St. Nazaire. They are armed with any of a multitude of weapons, and wear grey-green uniforms and coal-scuttle helmets.

Weapons[]

Behaviour[]

These soldiers are the grunts of the Wehrmacht. They will use cover, blindfire, and suppress the player and his or her allies to cover their own comrades. They are also very fast to melee the player, and will charge very quickly before landing several quick blows.

Fighting against them[]

Their AI might be good, but not great. They are slow to react to much, and focus, 85% of the time, on the player, allowing their allies to kill them. Their aim is also fairly bad. Just peeking around cover will allow the player to get good shots off and not get hit.

Desert Heer Infantry (Afrika korps)[]

General description[]

Found in just one theatre, the North Africa theatre, these soldiers are dressed in khaki uniforms and sand-colored helmets.

Winter Heer Infantry[]

General Description[]

Armed largely the same as their western counterparts, the Winter Heer infantry are approximately the same in terms of AI. They are different, however, in that they wear white coats and helmets, as opposed to grey-green and coal-scuttle. They are found in two theatres, the Battle of the Bulge theatre and the Russia theatre.

Medal of Honor: Vanguard[]

General description[]

They are first seen in the mission Der Bunker wearing a green-grey standard Wehrmacht field jacket with Unteroffizier's insignia and an olive coloured steel helmet. They replace the Italian soldiers of the first mission. They usually come in a group of 3-5 soldiers and sometimes throw a grenade at the player. They are not very good at aiming, mostly when using a rifle against the player, but can be a serious threat when they are using an SMG, as they will spray mostly half of their ammo at the player.

Common tactics[]

They commonly use rifles and SMGs; they use assault rifles rather rarely. They will use cover a lot of time and will throw a grenade if they run out of ammunition. They will run to the nearest cover if the player throws a grenade; they will sometimes blindfire at the player or an ally to support other German troops and will also charge at the player and melee him.

Weapons[]

Fighting agaisnt them[]

Using a grenade will kill them in close range. The player should use an SMG or MG42, as their high rate of fire can dispose of them quickly. They rarely, but will sometimes dodge out from his cover to get a better look and expose themselves at the player, giving him a good chance to kill them.

Medal of Honor: Airborne[]

Tropical Heer Infantry[]

General description[]

Tropical Heer

Tropical Heer infantry as seen on the loading screen.

The Tropical Heer Infantry appear as soldiers wearing light green uniforms, tan pants, and tan helmets. They have 110 health, and replace Blackshirts late in Infinite Mischief.

Common tactics[]

Like the Vicecapo Blackshirts, Tropical Heer Infantry are equipped with MP40 submachine guns. However, Heer infantry are somewhat more skilled combatants than Blackshirts. They've got better aim and firearm control.

They will move from cover to cover much more efficiently and will attempt to get out of the way if the player starts shooting at them. They will occasionally, although still rarely, lob grenades at the player, and blindfire to suppress the player.

Weapons[]

  • Melee

Fighting against them[]

These soldiers, although definitely better fighters compared to the Italian Blackshirts or Vicecapo Blackshirts, are still not particularly difficult enemies. Dispatching single enemies is about as easy as dispatching a Blackshirt, only requiring one rifle shot or a three-round submachine gun burst.

When found in groups, they are more effective than their Italian counterparts. They are more inclined to move, and will toss grenades to flush the player out of cover. Therefore, the player's best bet is to move quickly from cover to cover and toss grenades occasionally, picking off fleeing enemy as they move.

European Heer Infantry[]

General Description[]

European heer

They are much the same as Tropical Heer Infantry, but with different weapons and appearance. They appear wearing field-gray uniforms and field-gray helmets. They have 110 health, and use a Gewehr 43 semi-automatic rifle. They appear in the second, and third missions of the campaign, The Show, and Saved By Sacrifice.

Common tactics[]

European Heer Infantry are equipped with G43 rifles. They have good aim and firearm control compared to the Blackshirts.

They will move from cover to cover much more efficiently than the Blackshirts and will attempt to get out of the way if the player starts shooting at them. They will occasionally, although still rarely, lob grenades at the player.

Weapons[]

Common Tactics[]

Heer Infantry are not as skilled unlike other units. During combat they're unorganised and they die pretty easily. However they can dangerous in large numbers. While not as accurate with their weapons they can dish out serious damage on higher difficulty levels.

Fighting against them[]

Since they can die easily any weapon can do to kill them. The Heer Infantry is only dangerous in large numbers. It is advised to throw grenades at them to lure them out from cover. They will become disorganised and they scatter. They can be easily suppressed unlike other units.
