Following a devastating surprise attack on Saint-Nazaire by members of No. 2 Commando, the local garrison is heavily weakened following an aerial bombardment from the Royal Air Force and the destruction of a number of fuel tanks as well as a power plant. With their objectives complete, the commandos plan to escape into the French country-side by fighting through the town of Saint-Nazaire. Led by Lieutenant Roderick and Lieutenant William Holt, an American agent with the Office of Strategic Services, the commandos are able to fight their way down the narrow streets of the French port, with the option of destroying a German machine gun nest. After discovering another squad of commandos, pinned down and with wounded men, Holt and his men join them in clearing nearby houses and potentially destroying a Panzer IV tank. Next, Holt and his men mount an assault on the ruins of the local cathedral, killing German officer Erich Koster and retrieving valuable information on V-2 rocket facilities in North Africa.
Finally, Holt and his men make their way out through the cemetery only to come under attack by yet another Panzer IV. Working together with the surviving commandos, Holt manages to destroy the vehicle and the British troops are able to escape out to the counry-side.
